Ben Bunting proves endurance meets entrepreneurship with nocturnal lap challenge
Ben Bunting, founder of beForm Nutrition, reached a remarkable milestone on October 31st by completing his 10th marathon of 2025, but this wasn't your typical road race.
Instead of scenic routes or cheering crowds, Ben conquered 42.2 kilometres by circling the running track at Leeds Trinity University under challenging conditions that would test any endurance athlete.
An Unconventional Challenge
As darkness descended on Halloween evening, Ben set out to complete 105 laps of the university's 400-meter track.
The surface presented an immediate obstacle: constructed with loose aggregate material, the track constantly shed small stones that infiltrated his trainers throughout the gruelling effort.
"It's one thing to push through physical fatigue," Ben explains, "but constantly feeling debris in your shoes adds a whole new dimension to mental resilience."
Running in the Dark
With only ambient light from surrounding buildings and nearby 4G pitches illuminating his path, Ben navigated the track in near-darkness. The conditions created an almost meditative (if demanding) experience, far removed from the typical marathon environment.
"There's something uniquely challenging about running laps in those conditions," Ben reflects. "You're very much alone with your thoughts and your fuelling strategy becomes absolutely critical."
An Unexpected Visitor
The solitary nature of the evening took a surprising turn when a fox decided to investigate Ben's nutrition supplies.
The opportunistic visitor rummaged through his bag containing beFuel and beHydrate products; the very nutrition solutions Ben had carefully planned to sustain him through the marathon distance.
"I had to laugh," Ben says. "Here I am, pushing my body and testing our products in real-world conditions, and a fox is doing its own product review!"
Putting Products to the Test
The evening perfectly embodied beForm Nutrition's philosophy: proper fuelling is essential for endurance performance, regardless of conditions.
Throughout the 42.2km effort, Ben relied on his company's beFuel and beHydrate range to maintain energy levels and hydration; products designed specifically for athletes pushing their limits.
"These are exactly the scenarios we develop our products for," Ben notes. "Real athletes, real challenges, real results."
Marathon Number 10
Completing 10 marathons in a single year is an achievement in itself, but Ben's commitment to tackling them in varied and challenging conditions demonstrates the dedication that drives beForm Nutrition's product development.
Each marathon serves as both a personal challenge and a testing ground for the sports nutrition solutions his company provides to athletes.
As the year progresses, the running community will be watching to see how many more marathons Ben adds to his 2025 tally; and what unexpected challenges he'll tackle next.
